Ok Im one of those guys who doesnt need this kind of truck I wont this truck ,but my ideal was if I was going to spend money on a truck I was going to buy the best of the best and this was it for me I put 15,0000 down to help with the depreciation.....and paying 150 every three days isnt helping my budget...3.00 I didnt like but I lived with hoping it would go down but at 4.59 a galllon and going up its killing me.Thats great for all you guys that need your trucks and can put the cost on the consumer.....but to me the truck was designed for many different uses and mine is for recreational .......and if the truck keeps depreciating I will not be able to get the new and improved sd and if everything else keep going up my family and i will be living in it ................. just trying to live the american dream... work hard play hard..........
My truck is for recreation. And I also feel pain at the pump. I bought a smaller car for zipping around.
The truck is only used for truck things now.
I have 2 other car a civic and escape great cars .......... my daughter is turning 16 in two week thought i would try and get her a car ...... I think she will have to wait
This reminds me of something I saw on the news about the housing market....there were people that bought their houses for an inflated value (some grossly so) and now that the market has taken a hit they want out and are upside down on the payments!!! Living the "American Dream" is one thing but being smart wth your money is another apparently. Don't worry the Democrats want to help out these people in the housing market maybe they will help out the auto sector. Then our taxes will go up again! Just my .02
I agree with you... I have 4 homes and im ok so far ..because i can pass that on too the consumer not the same with the truck .......because im the consumer......see what goes around comes around.......except for my home the market on the housing went up and so did our taxes but when the housing market went down our taxes stayed the same but the insurance went up which made the mortgage go up....we cant win everything is up except our paychecks ...I would try to not eat as much but the cost of that is up too....I dont smoke or drink so that doesnt cost me at least that saves some cost.... I guess i bought my truck at the wrong time I guess the right time is now
Everything eventually evens out. The economy will turn also. After the economic boom we had it was bound to turn down. It is unlikely that this downturn will be too long or protracted. Several parts of the economy are doing just fine. Hang on for 8-10 months and things will be better. Not that fuel will be any cheaper.....
I have to admit. I even had to buy a 4 banger for daily work trips (Pontiac Sunfire). Keep'en the truck for hauling and hunt'en. Besides for that we either cruise around in my wifes Camry Hybrid or the Sunfire. I do agree these prices will weed out the folks that actually need these trucks for something vs. those that just wanted a big diesel pick-up
you guys that say ....guys that dont need them, you know people like me ...I need this truck just as much as the next guy just because i dont use mine as much or as income doesnt mean i dont have just as much right to this kind of truck....the truck is there when i need it .....and people like me didnt make the fuel prices what they are.......
Since when does need have anything to do with even 1/4 of what we buy? I NEED a 60" HDTV, I NEED quads and a camper and 30 guns of varying caliber and design, I NEED fancy wheels and bigger tires. If you want it and can afford it, GO FOR IT!
My wanting is a basic need........I dont want high fuel prices I need lower fuel prices................I want this truck ......that is a need........people need to stop judging ...........
I (personally) have no problem with people buying what they want.
Hey, its your choice, do what you want!
However when you buy something (such as a Truck) one has to accept it is going to use a lot of fuel, and the price of fuel is something you have no control over.
As such, it may cost you a lot of money... but again, thats your choice.
Don't mean to sound self-righteous, but I dumped my diesel F350 about 3years ago (as soon as it wasn't required from a business point of view), because of its risk from a fiel price point of view, and lately have been driving a diesel Focus.
Doesn't mean I didn't want to drive the SD, I loved the truck. However I knew I needed to be earning a lot more money than what I am to be able to justify it to myself financially.
In some ways I am envious of those that can justify it, driving around in a SuperDuty would sure be better than my current tin can, but I have to say I struggle to find sympathy if you complain about not being able to afford it, because it is your CHOICE.
If you have a business that necessitates owning a truck I am more sympathetic, but even then there can be options.
Can you suffice with a Ranger?
Can you arrange your jobs/work in a more efficient manner?
See I agree with that.... at the time I felt very comfortable buying the truck with the fuel prices were they were at a year ago..do you think that I or anyone should have known the fuel prices would go up over 4 dollars maybe higher......or that everything else would go up......and again I dont need the truck I want the truck . I got the truck for many different uses .......Im not asking for sympathy all this thread was entended for was to telll my experience and too think before doing it ...not saying not too or too..just have your eyes open ..I didnt and this is my experience to that.....Im not judging anyone for the choices they make...........live and learn.........maybe it not a good time to buy maybe the prices are still going to drop even lower for that new truck how knows..........and im adjusting for the changes that are out of my control.........
Well Hell: I have no real use for my 6.4 but have wanted a diesel pickup for years. Now the kids are on their own, the house is paid off and I have been blessed with a nice lifetime pension from New York State. I started collecting Social Security last year so I got the truck, and I just let Uncle Sam make my truck payment and buy my fuel. 40 years of hard work has to be worth something
Just have to go with what works for you. It will cost me $500 more in fuel to go camping this year. Thats $12.00 more a day while camping. Everything is going up. We just have to find different ways to deal with it. I know I am going to enjoy each day more driving. It is like people that own nice sports cars such as Corvette. You really do not need one but it sure feels good driving one. We just need to tighten our belts and enjoy life.
