STUCK 239

I have just purchased a 1954 F-100. It was driven into a barn 7 years ago and never run since. It has a 239 that is stuck. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to get the motor loose. I have already tried diesel fuel in the cylinders, pulling it and popping the clutch, no good.

I'd shoot a bunch of PB-Blaster in the spark plug holes and let it sit and soak. I had a 292 that had two pistons that were stuck in their bores and the PB-Blaster is what penetrated through the corrosion. In my case the two cylinders had water in the combustion chambers for an extended period (the surface of the cylinder head was so corroded that even a .010 decking didn't completely remove the pits).

It would help if you could pressurize the oil system, maybe with trans fluid (high detergent). Otherwise you'll just have to replace the engine.

Best of luck,

The PB Blaster idea seems to have the most backing. I will give that a shot. I am also going to jack the truck up a little bit, hook a breaker bar onto the crank and let the weight of the truck try and help break it loose, Thanks for the info and I will let you know how it works.

Okay, not really on topic, but funny
none-the-less, and does include a Ford
Truck...

About 15 years ago, I bought a '62 Jaguar
Mk2, 3.8L I6, 4 speed tranny, the engine was
"stuck", I paid the man $400 and got ready
for my buddy to drag me across town with his
F250 4X4, we had a good long tow rope and a
fresh battery so the brake lights would work,
off we go, both of us with the four ways on...
As we're going along, I start wondering if the
clutch is stuck too, as I'm being dragged, I'm
in neutral, so I push the clutch pedal in and
try to stick it into gear, hey, whaddayaknow,
goes right in, so the next time we stop. I jump
out and tell Carlie I'm going to try to "unstick"
the engine, so don't worry if you all of a sudden
see me go sideways...Well, off we go, at about
35 mph I stick it 2nd gear and pop the clutch,
get a chirp of the rear tires and quickly push
the clutch, no-go, Okay, try again, no-go, and
one more time, no-go, next stop, I jump out and
tell Carlie that I'm going to try again, but this
time, can he get a little more speed?? Off we go,
at 45mph I try again,

It started, almost drove under Carlie's bumper...

STUCK 239

I have had my wife pulling me with the burb and dumping the clutch, to no avail. I have taken the heads off and found two rusty cylinders, they are now soaking. We will try again next week and if that doesn't work out comes the motor.
If the guys with the 239's still have them write me at Huah4(No Email Addresses In Posts!) and let me know what you want for them. Thanks.
