Is it for a car or truck? The cars used a front sump pan and the dipstick is at the front of the block. I have one of the car dipsticks with the tube. The trucks used a rear sump pan and the dipstick is in the side of the block.

Hey,for the time being here's an easier solution and easy as damn pie!!Just get any dip stick that is long enough,Okay??Then drain out your oil and change your oil filter.Add 4 quarts of oil,start engine and run for a minute.Then shut it off.Then use any dipstick thats long enough to touch the oil.Then file a notch on that dipstick,.That will be your one quart low mark.Now add quart #5,wait till it settles in engine.Stick dipstick in again.where the oil mark sits on stick,file a notch there.That will be your full mark.That will work until you get your original dipstick,or if you aren't interested in originality as far as a dipstick is concerned (Will work forever!!!)

I "may" know where you can find one. I tried the sponsor's board first but had no luck. I tried a T-Bird site (since they also had 292s) and noticed this vendor had a Truck section. In the "Parts123" search criteria, I only selected my year. The Parts search returned 500+ items that matched my '59. One of them was the elusive Dipstick for $15.95.
