Dipstick Length

Does Anyone know what the proper length that the dipstick is? The truck is a 1975 F-100 360 4spd. 4x4 . A friend of mine has one and he changed oil in it and put in 4 liters with the filter and it isnt even showing on the stick! I think is supposed to hold 6 liters with filter but not sure. I measured the stick and it was 21 and 3 quarts of an in.

chris , most of these 70ish and later model trucks take 5 qts(32 oz. each qt.) when you change the filter and take 4 quarts without changing the filter..........The only engine that would tahe any quantity equal to or greater than 6liters would be the 6.9 diesel which showed up in the 83 model year i believe....not including the later models starting in the early ninties .....fd
