I have an 86 f-150 with a 302 efi. I recently went water bogging and took water in through the intake. I took out all the spark plugs and cranked out most the water off the pistons. But i am now hearing a loud clunking noise from the lower part of the engine. What is it? I think the culprit may be a busted piston. Any help would be great.
If your drowned the motor, and water was ingested through the intake and into the cylinders, the motor went thru hydrostatic lock... water, unlike air and gas, is not compressible in an engine.
Pulling the oil pan off will likely reveal several bent rods, perhaps a few damaged crank journals, one or two busted cylinder bore skirts. Did you find a grey water-oil mix when draining the oil out (you did change the oil, right)? - if so... sorry man...
