IIRC there is a ground that goes to the frame and one to the body as well. I could be mistaken though. I also belive there is a ground from the engine to the body and to the frame as well... I would go with frame though... Better yet set it up exactly how the factory batter is setup... I.E. if there is a ground going to both frame and engine do the same with other battery....
Thanks. I'll just ground the crap out of everything. If the body isn't grounded, your guages go all goofy. Forgot that after I rebuilt the engine. Couldn't figure out why it was running sooooo hot.(yet I could hold on to the radiator hoses)
I usually run a direct ground to the engine (#2), front radiator support (#12), frame (#2-#6), body (#12), exhaust (#14) and voltage reg (#18). For a big alt, I run at least a #6 to it or its bracket.
I have both of mine grounded to the motor & one ground from the motor to the frame. Both ground cables have a ground wire to the core support. One from the rear of a head to the fire wall, One from the cab to the frame. One from the bed to the frame.
I took mine to the frame, body, and motor. Can't go wrong with that. Adding the ground to the motor straight from the battery got rid of my horrible alternator interference I was getting through my subs.
Something to think about. When useing dual batts., you should use the pos. on one battery and thneg. for grounding on the other. This forces both batteries to get used. If you ground the same battery as the positive is used, it will cycle mostly on that battery.
