Van Turbo Question

Got it installed and the red and green hoses plugged off. Up-pipes connected. Haven't checked the spider hoses for leaks yet but that is next.

Seems like my boost is off. Going about 55, I got EGT of about 700 and boost about 3-5 psi depending on the grade. Is this normal? I thought the EGTs should run cooler or is that only at higher RPM?

Anyone who has installed it, what have you noticed? TIA

I don't know where everyone is today. I've read lots about the van turbo. Someone should be able to answer this for you. I'll bump you back up.

IIRC, that sounds about normal to me. The EGT reduction will be bigger at higher RPM and under heavy loads.

No. I got mine from BTS and had them install it. I also got a brand new in box Van Turbo on Fleabay for $540 delivered.

Cool deal. How do you like your setup now with the van turbo? Set of stage I single shots in the future?

Seems ok at higher end but at the lower end it does run a little hotter or seems to. Of course that could be because it isn't moving as much air at lower RPM. I have to break it in first but so far, it does seem pretty nice especially at the top.

No. Stage II Single shots.

Did you put the fender sleeve in your AIS box? Something to consider if you haven't. After I put the fender sleeve in my AIS the smoke wasn't as bad. Worked well for me, especially when towing.

Welcome To FTE... I could be mean and say to do a search, this topic has been covered SO many times theres just about too much info on it. But to sum it up, it has a larger exhaust housing, to reduce drive pressure, which allows more top end flow through the exhaust housing, which means it can support alot more injector. Aklim did you add an ATS housing by any chance? That is one SWEET deal on a new turbo!

Aklim, I noticed the exact same things you did after installing the VT. I had Jody add some fuel on the lower end (tip in), and adjust my shift points a little and now my VT almost spools as fast as my old stocker would. The absolute shizzle is the 140Aggressive(smoke) tune, it fuels so heavy on the low end that the VT spools super fast and your gone. I can actually make more smoke with my 80E tune than my smoke tune (on the low end).
A set of Stage 2s and you will be rockin.

The dyno tune is awesome... You have to use it wisely though as it locks the tranny in OD and locks the TC, and will not downshift. you can be going along at 30 and hit it, and roll the coal out and it never stops because the turbo won't spool at 1250rpm. For the select few in mine or jeremy's truck on the way to the steakhouse that one night, it's about that thick smoke (hero-like Chris!) but it doesn't clear up

Not yet. Dennis at ITP told me to hold off to see if I get surge. If I do, I can add it later.
