C9 comes up as 3.55's. From your axle tag, it looks like you're missing part of it. Should be a 3 before the L55. L meaning limited slip. What is your cruise RPM @ 60 mph?

Well the thing is not in the best of shape so you can hardly see it.
At 60 mph I'm way down in rpm less than 2,000 I have 33" tires too.
I'm looking to possibly go to 4.10's for pulling my race trailer
Yeah, but I wanted to make sure......I also have another one but it has a different code on it with 3.55's but I guess its a open diff. So I wanted to make sure
Try locking it out of OD when you tow the trailer.
Unless you will only be driving the truck when towing, I can't see going to the expense of gear changes in a 4x4 that will hurt the MPG when just driving the truck.
2200 RPM with 33" tires and OD locked out at 60 MPH with 3.55 gears.
2540 RPM with 33" tires and OD locked out at 70 MPH with 3.55 gears.
OD locked out should make the truck pull the hills much better and make the tranny happier.

o.k. I will do that.......
gear swaps in these things are big bucks........and I thought race cars were expensive....9" stuff is cheap compared to these
Plus you have two of them to do which makes it even worse.
Talk about airplane gears, if you could tach it out in overdrive, you would hit 128.53 MPH at 3300 RPM.
As for you missing a number on the tag, it is rather common, the 3 is probably under the bolt head that holds the tag on.
I see the same thing when I look at my tag.
A turbo would still help you drag that trailer, but the RPM would be so low in overdrive you would still want to lock out the overdrive before you hit a hill to get the RPM up.

I plan on getting one but just don't have the money right now, also don't have much faith in this trans, it was a ford reman installed by the previous owner in 04. only 10k on it but I don't like how it feels. I would rather go through it myself and get a new converter.
Probly 6 months before I have enough saved for the turbo
From what I have read, most of the really weak parts in the E4OD tranny should have been replaced in a factory reman unit as new as 04.
I also know that a lot of the E4OD problems were from people that wanted car shifting from a truck transmission.
Caused problems even when used as a car, downright headaches when used as a truck.
A shift kit and control module upgrade fixed a lot of the excessive slippage and reduced the tranny heat, all good things.
