every so often, there is no rime or reason to when, my truck won't shift out of first. it just holds it till I get pissed and rug it, then it goes into a limp mode where the Off light flashes and it shifts so hard it barks the tires. other times it will shift into second then right to nothing and all we do is coast to a stop with it still in gear and revving up.
only fix is to shut truck off restart and cross your fingers.
it did it to me Sat in Superior, 150 miles from home like 5 times. as soon as I hit the freeway in pucker mode hoping I didnt die it decides to drive all 150 miles with out even a lick of trouble.
Mine did a similar thing about a week ago. turns out my keyless entry was going out, and taking a fuse with it, which controlled the speedometer.
Check your number 8 fuse in the dash panel fuse box. just a thought.
Does the speedo/odo work??? what about the door chime? the keyless entry if you have it?
these things would all be fishy if that was the problem.
But shutting it off and restarting it wouldnt fix it if it was just the fuse. sounds like you have a short somewhere in your system or???
Good luck man.
had a simillar issue with my '90 idi it turned out to be a fusable link under the right hand battery almost burnt up and would not let power through some times.
