Hi im a new guy here and i liked the foum so much i join up.
Me and my father(more like just me) are rebuilding a 1980 f100 short box 2wd truck, i pulled the engine removed the front body and box, its bacily a cab on a frame now. The doner truck we have is a very very (did i mention very) tired and old 1984 150 4wd with a 300 six, it was used as a plow truck for 20 years. Engine trans and 4wd still work great.
So my job is to remove the Engine trans and 4wd from the doner and move everything to the f100. i have all ready pulled the engine and i managed to get the front 4wd system to match up to the 2wd brackets, but the real problem i have been having is geting the rear axles from the doner to work with the f100s existing housing. I swaped the diffs so the gear ratios are right but the axles from the f100 have a smaller bolt patern than the doner and a differnt stile of bearings. I need to find bearings for the f100 so i can put them on the axles from the f150, does anyone know if this is posible and where can i find parts for this truck?
can you not just swap over the whole axle assembly? The f150 had a stouter suspension as well, so you might be picking up some capability with the rear axle assembly.
i thought of that my self to but the old man said it would be easyer to just change the gears, but its to late to use the old rear end now i screwed the bearings from the f150 when i pulled out the axles and i already have the f150s gears in the f100 i could go back and rebuild the f150 rear end but i hoped i could just get away with puting f100bearings on the f150 axles.
there should be numbers on the back of the bearings and the axil seals I went through the same trouble with my 80 F-100 and my friends at NAPA were able to crossreference the numbers with new bearrings and seals.

Reason: forgot the store I went to
Well i got the axles, bearings and engine in without to much trouble and got the 4x4 swiched over now i just need to atach everything again.
The wiring in the f100 is a bit choped up and im having a hard time wiring everything up i was hoping someone here might be able to point me in the direction of a wiring diagram?
Look on ebay too for manuals and diagrams. www.helminc.com has the new factory diagrams. The 84 through 86 diagrams in the back of the Haynes manual are very complete for those years, but do not show any harness routing.
Haynes manual's are by far the best manuals for any wiring or repairing of any vehicles every vehicle either my parents get or ive got weve gotten a haynes manual and its worth the $20
After a rainy day and a few hours i got the wiring to work out and start the engine, that old inline six runs as good as the day it was made. All i got left now is to find a gas tank, wire up the rest of the truck and either find a shortbox 4wd drive shaft or get the one i have cut to the right size, im in the home strech now thanks for you help guys.
