just wondering if you guys could help me identify a part on my 1994 powerstroke. is all i know is that it is mounted on my diverside fender under the hood, attached to the vacuum disturbution block, and the part is a small 2 inch diamiter cylindar 1 inch thick. one of the hoses, 4 inches long, runs from the disturbution block to this cylinder. also on the cylinder has a low vacuum warning switch pluged into it. im not sure what that cylinder is, and i broke the little nipple off the cylinder that the 4 inch hose connects to while i was taking my heads out. any help on the name and/or funtion of this cylinder is would be greatly appreciated.
I don't have a clue what it is or what you are talking about. Can you supply a photo of this animal? If so I'll bet ya it's identified in a heart beat.
It's the Low Vacuum Indicator Warning switch. You might be able to bypass it. Just unplug the connector and plug the vacuum line until you get a new one.
It's a normally open switch that closes when ever the vacuum stays below 10 inches of vacuum for more than 7 seconds. When it closes it applies a ground to the brake light.
