They make coilover conversion kits if you are looking for a lift that will allow you to keep your current axles.
03 with Full Traction Coilover Conversion and Kings:
Or, yes you can swap 05+ axles under a 99-04.......heres some axles out of an 06 under what used to be a leaf sprung Excursion:
Of course, if you do the axle swap you can stay at stock height as long as you had the newer stock suspension as well.

Building the mounting cups for the springs would not be too difficult. One could probably adapt the stock mounts from a 73-79 F-150. The stock track arm would have to be retained, and some radius arms would have to be scratch built. That would be the hard part (for me).
