I recently rented an Edge for a business trip and enjoyed one feature I can only guess all new Fords have... The remote was intergrated into the key. Has anyone adapted this to their truck? Do all 07 or 08's come with this feature?
I have never been a fan of the separate remote outside of the creature comforts so this really peaked my interest.

I know most Jeeps have this feature.. It's a nice feature until someone looses their high dollar key and has to replace it. They can be in the $200+ range to replace and get programed.
There are several people on the other F150 messageboard that are using the Edge key in their F150s.You can find new uncut Edge keys on Ebay for around $50.

I work at a Ford dealer. I compared these 2 key blanks, and yes, the cuts are the same!! As long as the chip inside will program to an F150 and start it, I don't see a problem in doing this. I might do this myself. My only question is, to those who HAVE done this, what will the "2X" trunk button do on the F150...pop open the tailgate for you?? Hehehhee Just curious.
the EDGE key will work in the F-150. there is just 1 slight problem. the shape of the key hole is different between the 2. the Edge FOB rubs against the key slot...most guys just sand the column down a little so it doesn't rub
the Lock/Unlock/Panic Buttons also work. you just have to be patient when programming. eBay has these things from $15-100 bucks.
Unless you're dealer is "cool", they're probably going to say no. I've gotten replacement F-150 keys off eBay for under $20 shipped to me. If you only have 1 key, I suggest you do that first, then get the Edge Key as your 3rd key. The Dealer charged me $48 to program 1 key. Walmart will cut it for you, and you can program it in your driveway for free if you already have 2 keys.
Is it better to sand the column? Or sand the plastic on the key? I have not had a chance to compare the fit. I just purchased a key from ebay. This one will be my "fourth" key for this truck. I like the idea of having just a key, instead of a key and remote.
^^^ lets you keep your fog lights on while the headlights are on high beam. the fogs currently cut off when high beams are on.
2. you bake your headlights at 200-250F for about 10 minutes...then you peel the cover off the casing...paint the inside of the headlight black and re-assemble. gets you the Harley/FX2 look without spending the hundreds of dollars
