Replacing rear end on a 97 explorer

I was wondering if anyone knows of some good posts or links on how to swap out the rear end on my 97 explorer. I got a replacement from salvage today with 60k on it to replace my bad one with 219k. The replacement came with rotors, calipers, everything, I just need to know what is involved in swapping it over.

I just did the same thing on my 99 took us 2 hrs, but we had a hoist. we used the brakes that were on the 99. Just unbolt everything and reinstall

rear axle swap

Wish I had a hoist, I am going to have to do it on gravel with some plywood.

rear end swap complete

Got the rear swapped in my 97 Explorer. I had taken it to Ford first and they wanted about $750 to rebuild the original, so I picked up a rear from salvage with 60k miles on it. For about $500, got the rear, shocks all around, rotors turned, hardware, etc. Pretty easy job except for gravel driveway. My O/D off light also went out, maybe it was a bad sensor on the old differential housing. Now I just need to replace the front wheel hub and the Explorer is back in business. Let me know if anyone needs pointers on swapping a rear end out and I will let you know everything I came across.
