Hey guys i've got a problem with my truck and i need help. I have a 2006 F-350 6.0 and i just put a turbo back silverline kit on it. Everything has been great but recently i noticed after i start it and drive down the road she starts smoking when i stop. When i accelerate it looks like i did a burn out but it comes out of the pipes. Once the motor hits operating temp the smoke stops for the most part. I'm way confused i guess eliminating the cat is messing everything up but i'm not sure and everyone i turn to has no idea either. it still has factory intake, no tuner and just exhaust so i think i'm letting out to much air and not taking enough in which will be cured soon when i do a tuner and intake, but if anyone can help me please i need it because it shouldn't be smoking thanks if you have any feed back
Any performance issues? Any DTC's? How many miles on your truck?
A blind guess would be EGR - pull it and see what it looks like (since it is relatively easy). Could also be a number of other things - turbo, injectors, sensirs, etc. More info is needed.
I don't believe it's pipe related.
Have you changed your oil and fuel filters lately.
These trucks need good clean oil and fuel.
They do weird stuff when they don't get it.
no performance issues aside from a slight decrease in mpgs andit seems to have lost a little bit of that torquey snap but other then that no codes no engine light. imat 29000 and it has never had anything done to it. i know the 6.0s are known to clog egrs from eccessive idiling so i wanna take mine off and check it. the smoke is like a gray bluish color and doesnt smell like anything aside from burnt exhaust so basically im baffled
I just got out from under my truck and found when we installed the exhaust nobody ever put the front 3-1/2 inch clamp on pipe. I just installed it and took for a rdie although the trcuk wasn't totally cold i noticed a decrease in smoke almost none. It's currently cooling down to cold so i can take for another ride and verify that was the problem. If anyone has run into exhasut sucking air and blowing whiteish/gray smoke until operating temp due to loose or missing clamp let me know thanks
