Last month I picked up a 4 piece headliner from a wrecking yard, all four pieces were nice and it kinda looked OK in my truck. Actually I did not like it. So I decided to have a custom headliner put in. I wanted it to look good for the f100 western nationals on June 21.08.
I put the beginning photos of progress in my "Grill of my Dreams" gallery and I'll add more photo's as I take them. Projected completion Friday 5-2-08
I sure once completed it will be another cool portion of your truck. Is that a mixer of foam , fiberglass & body filler?
I just took the originial headliner with arat hole/nest in it and cover it with headliner fabric in my 65, not a good pic in my gallery.. But I got another old 4 piece liner for my next project truck.

The foam is'nt in yet so far the board, fiberglass and filler are done. Next the foam. I'll upload those pictures in a little bit.
1. Can you go into a little better detail on what were looking at there? I'm into the fiberglass boat thing and this looks like something I can do as well. Similar of course LOL..
2. Is the one you picked up from the yard the original perf board style ? and what are your plan for it if you wont be using it ? Mines shot to hell and I don't want to spend the $$ on a new replacement. A used one would be great or at least a tracing of it so I could cut my own out of a substrate that fit's the bill. PM me if there is an chance of getting a tracing (I have the paper to size)
Probably no truck this year and i will be staying over....I could not imagine driving the crew there.... 8 MPG......And Christine is still giving me electrical gremlins....And the Uni will not be ready...

Answer to Q1: First a sound deadener - insulation was adhere to roof. Then real thin plywood was attached and fiberglass used on edges and smoothed to cab. The corners were molded using plywood and fiberglass. The corners are removable, the top is not. After all was set up the foam was applied. the design was then cut into foam and material was then attached. ( See gallery for latest pictures ).
Q2: The headliner I picked up was not the perf board as I originally thought the board if not carefull would break off if you touched it wrong. the piece that went from headliner to rear window snapped in half but would work the only good pieces were the corners. Another buddy of mine wanted to try and salvage what he could I'll ask him to make a template if the main headliner piece and the second piece.
I put new pictures in my gallery check them out.
When are you coming to El Cajon to do mine. Just kidding. Looks great those scallops look like the hood scallops and fit well.
Yup, hood scallops. wanted to bring the outside, inside. The body lines of my 64 just look . And bringing them inside was just that much nicer. more to come in about two weeks.
Thanks for all the compliments guy's.

Said it before and I'll say it again- beautiful truck man. And it just keeps getting cooler....
Didn't catch the headliner matching hood thing right off the bat, felt kinda stupid, but that is probably a hard picture to get. I would have caught that right off if I had seen the truck in person. I like it!
