satellite radio location in 2008

Where have you guys mounted your satellite radio in your 2008 SD's?

I was unable to find the Lariat I wanted with built-in Sirius and too impatient to order one, so I guess I'll "old-school" it.

Pics would be great.

Thanks

This is what i did on my '01. I dont know what the visor catches are like on the '08 but on these I could likely do a pull up they're so strong. Ive since hardwired the gps and sirius back thru the hole in the headliner under the visor catch. Im still waiting for some gray fabric to wrap the aluminum.

I went to bracketron.com and got a bracket that mounts my sirius radio adjacent to the cupholder in my 06. They have a large selection of custom brackets and mounting options. I am very happy with the product.

Question

Hey Jojiggler! How well does your GPS work with that mount? I put mine up on the windshield just under the mirror and I can not get a GPS signal

Merlin, Sometimes it take 1-5 minutes to get the signal at start up. Especially if I turn it on in a different location from where i turned it off. I have the tomtom one xls and, supposedely, if you turn it off and on in the same location the chip calculates where the sattelites are by the elapsed time. With that said, once i pick up the first signal it goes straight to 5 sats constant, but i often wait a few minutes for that first.
This unit has an antenna in jack that im considering adding on if I find a half decent roof mount for it.

Dem Jojiggler, that's a great looking setup. A fine job. Of course for the OP, I would consider a new head unit. I've found that the external mounted XM just didn't sound near as good. I don't have an especially great unit, just a middle of the ground Pioneer, but it sounds way better than the external unit did, and it's just so much cleaner.

ed, ive been looking at the different haed units out there to replace my stock. I will probably get around to that the end of this year. As much as i like the idea of my Sirius being part of the head unit, I do take the sat tuner out and dock it inside and on my wifes car. I cant see, even though it is relatively cheap, getting additional subscriptions. In the least the new head uniti will have minijack inputs in the back. I currently still use the fm tuner

I did leave some extra aluminum up there for the Sirius mount. The tuner i have is the old ExAct model and am gonna replace it with a Sportster 4 or 5. Sirius has some pretty good deals now.

I think Sirius has a visor clip/mount available (wireless). You may want to check out thier website. There's always something new coming out...
