When I was stationed in San Diego in 68 they used to have it to where we could go to a donor station on one day of the week and they would pay you $10. for your blood. We had a guy in our school that got caught underage in a bar and they fined him $150. He was married and we were all broke so someone thought of 14 of us going down and donating the blood and giving him the money which we did. The woman that took the blood looked at us like we were nuts for handing the cash over, but it was the only way to raise the money. Heck we didn't even make $100. a month back then.
Back in '68 things were a lot different.......

They come to where I work every three months so I donate every time. I have A-Positive and they usually call me as soon as I'm eligible again and I tell them I'll give when they come back to work. They also try to get me to give on a new machine that takes something out of your blood then puts it back in, I did that one time and almost passed out and threw up so I just give the regular Pint. They give us a shirt and Points that you can accumulate to spend in a store type thing that they have setup online.
