Haven't used a Husky, so have no opinion on those. But out of what I have used(a good portion of the others), I like the Stihl best.

We used McCullough's back in the day - like 30+ years ago. Back when the grab bar was bare bar and there wasn't any handguard-style chain brakes. Grandpa had a real old Remington with what had to been a 30" blade on it. What a cantankerous monster that was...

Anywho, one of the cousins bought a Stihl about the time we bought a Poulan. Made us regret ours immediately. Guess we've been using nothing but Stihls since about '80-'81. Stihls won us over, and never let us down.

Going to go visit the old farm next month. My brother and I grew up swinging 8lb mauls splitting hickory, beech, and the odd old dead elm. I sure miss those crisp fall days, when dad would tell us we'd worked enough and could go get the rifles. My city-bred coworkers always marvel at how easily I can fell a tree in their yards, and put it exactly where we want it to drop. They'd never understand.

My arborist friends swear by Stihl, the local small engine fixit guy says Echo for the homeowner, but:

My Poulan Super Deluxe 25 is over 20 years old, used it semi professionally for 2 years, and off and on since then for firewood cutting and occasional trimming...still runs great although I had to replace the carb last year (I broke the original cleaning it...DOH!).

Been running Stihls my whole life, my dad has been running them for as long as I can remeber and not once have we had any major problems with them. Just as easy to use as the next saw, with plenty of capacity to boot. Husky are good too, don't get me wrong, but I am gonna stick with my tested and true STIHL.

Well, I have a Homelite XL2 that my grandfather bought 30 years ago, and the only thing that has ever been done to it was to replace the little rubber check valve on the gas tank. (plus it dropped 35 ft and fired right back up with nothing broken). I also have a Husky 351 that I inherited when my father in law passed this spring, and i have used it several times since, with good results.
