okay i have a 01 f250 and i am wits end with the diesel fuel prices up here just hitting between 4.45 and 4.55. I have located a place that sells B20 for 4.49 and another place that sells B99 and B100 for 3.71...my question is obvious...
Will my truck be able to handle the B99 or B100 without having any mods done to the fuel lines or pumps?
The temp up here is not suppose to get below 45 over night so i think gelling is out of the equation, or should i stick to regular diesel or B20...im just not use to this whole biodiesel thing...but heck for .70+ cents cheaper ill drive the 15 miles. thanks for your help
The way I understand it you do not need anything to run B100 other than, perhaps, a spare fuel filter in case the old one clogs up. Straight bio is supposed to help clean out the fuel system hence the extra filter.
Biodiesel is different then running SVO or WVO. Pure biodiesel can be run in a deisel vehivle without modifications. If you were running the others you would need heated lines, seperate tanks and such

If you're worried buy both bio and petro and cut your own. That'll solve your gelling worries no? What kind of bulk do you have to buy to get that price on B100!?
WOW that was quick guys you got back to me in a hurry on that....Thank you very much.

That price quote is at the PUMP!!!...I almost fell over when i read the email from the owner of the place.
I'll pick up a few extra fuel filters...do you know how much less mpg i should expect?
If it's good quality bio, you should hardly see any difference in mileage or power. If it's poor quality, mileage will suffer a good bit and the truck will feel sluggish.
I would say jump on it, but I have heard from a man at work that Biodiesel accelerates the deteriation of the O-Rings in the motor is there much truth to that?

Back in the 80's that would be true. But not today. Rubber is no longer used in fuel systems, including o-rings. Bio eats rubber like there's no tomorrow.
I have been running B20 exclusively for a solid year. As Pocket mentioned, there are no issues like leaks or anything else. It used to be a bit cheaper than #2, but not anymore around here.
I for one have not noticed any appreciable difference in performance. I do see a very slight decrease in EGTs......not much, like 50*.....others don't seem to see any.
You should be good.
I agree with you though...I'm seriously looking at starting to make my own bio.

Where are you located? With that kind of price for Bio, I hope it's close to me!
CedricR?
That's just not fair. Jump on the deal Greg. If anything you might notice a 1 MPG or so drop, but you'll make up for that with the cheaper price. A spare filter is a good idea, but I never needed one. The only thing you need to be concerned about is the higher gel point (usually in the 40's), but since we're heading into the warm season you should be good.
Don't be surprised when the black smoke from your tailpipe disappears, or when the engine seems to smooth out a little.
