Carb # C5TF-G..manual choke. I guess the fuel line has been on and off too many times. The threads where the line screws into are few and far between. Does anyone have any leads on a junk carb that I could get the top from? Or one that I could just rebuild? Thanks if you have any leads.
OK, I'm ready to be attacked for this, but I had the same problem and used plumber's tape on the threads and then put it back together. No more leaks! I did this about four months ago and it's still working.
Why would you be attacked for doing a good think on your feet repair....
Garbz
They made Teflon tapes for a reason. Just be sure you wrap with the thread pitch and have no stragglers to get loose and plug the float valve or jets. My 69 360 2v has the same repair......
Another "fix" I found in a pinch is to cut the alum. gas tube about 4 inches from the carb. Unscrew the gas line from the carb and "slather" a significant amount of JB weld and put it back in and let it set up. Make sure not to use so much that it plugs the line. Use a short piece of rubber gas line to reattach when the JB weld is solid and there you have it. That saved my bacon when playing around in the desert and far away from a parts store. That repair lasted longer that I had the truck.
