I have 2 gas tanks. I have traced the lines to the tank switch then 2 lines from the tank switch to the fuel pump, then one line from the fuel pump to the carb. nowhere in the system do I see a fuel filter. The lines going from the tank switch mechanism to the hard lines leading to the fuel pump are not stock and have been replaced at some point.
I removed the carb screen inspected and found it old..but clean. The fuel pump is the mechanical type. So the only possibilities are: Filters in the tank or no filter beyond the carb screen. I have not dropped a tank.
any thoughts, am i missing something here? on the older mechanical systems were there filters in the tanks in a duel tank system?
I had a S10 and the fuel filter was about the size of my thumb mounted inside the carb. you had to pull the ridged fuel line off the carb and the filter would slide out. SO the metal fuel line was also the filter retainer.
my 1991 f150 has dual tanks and the filter is located right after the dual tank switch valve on the frame. sounds like someone removed it just cut one into the line you want to protect the pump as well as the carb.
