Overdrive Unit

Does anyone use them? Are they effective? Worth the money? Came across this one, but it wouldn't do me much good for my build if it can only handle 420 lb-ft of torque like it says.

You could try gear vedors they make one that is rated to a lot more power than that
Gear Vendors under/overdrive transmissions the most awarded auxiliary transmissions.
No I haven't ever used one personally. Hope this helps.

Ya I've checked out that one before. It looks pretty nice, I guess that $3095 price tag scared me off, although with fuel on the rise, it may in time prove justifiable, and help my trucks highway driveability.

I've seen the Ranger for $1500 or so, the GV runs almost $3000.

The OD is 20%. Do the math on a 20% fuel savings on your truck.

If you are getting 10 mph, you go to 12. Takes years to pay these off...

And BTW, you'll never get a 20% fuel saving out of a 20% OD.

Yes, I realize this, although it does sound like you're contradicting yourself, haha. But it is worth consideration. I guess though an NV4500 swap would be the other option though. Although I was intending to keep my NP435.

an OD system is worth considering for the lowering of RPM's with higher speeds to save wear and tear on a motor. But, like 85e... said, it won't pay for itself for just fuel savings.
