Some are fancy regular oil (hydro treated) pretty much anything that meets Mercedes and Porsche ( and Corvette I believe ) specs is "real" and the rest is big American oil companies marketing hype. They threatened to sue the European oil standards body if it did not include
class 3 oils as synthetics and since the Euro body had no money to speak of they agreed. So if you put class 3 syn in your truck it is just oil with all instead of most of the solvents removed. Throughout I have over simplified but when you put the real stuff in if you monitor your mileage and stuff you will notice a difference.
I have been looking at royal purple and a couple of others. What are some true synthetic brands and what are some class three brands so that I know to stay away from them?
