I have a 1998 Ranger. I must say it is in mint condition. I keep it in our garage every night, wax it every 3 months. In the near future I need to put on a new serpintine and timing belt. and get new boll joints and tie rod ends. These are things that do wear out in time.
This Ranger has 122,576 miles. At 120,000I switched to Wal Mart Full Synthetic 10W30 Oil. Since switching to Full Synthetic I am getting 1.3 miles more per gallon. Great news with the gas here at $3.58
what do you all think of Wal Mart's Super Tech 10W30 Full Synthetic Oil?
You have a belt. I suggest you have it changed soon if it hasn't been done. They have a service life of ~100k miles. I have a '99 B2500 - same engine. 194,xxx miles, I have my oil done at WalMart as well unless LubePros has a coupon in the local paper (usually $6 off). I just use the regular dino oil though (Pennzoil). What kind of mileage do you get with the synthoil?
I don't know about walmarts oil, synthetic or other wise. I am however a big believer in the merits of synthetic oil as I have used mobil 1 for years. I would also put synthetics into my tranny, t-case and rear diff for even better mpg. The engine runs cooler, parts wear less, better mpg, synthetics is worth the extra money in my opinion. Also you don't have to change it as much as you do dino oils, good move!!!!
I am going to have to put some synthetic in my truck. Seeing as how it is getting time to change my fluids soon. Actually except for engine oil everything is overdue Pretty impressive mileage increase. Congrats
He has a 4 cylinder 5-speed, 25-26 is average highway mileage with those, it's not that far fitched. The new duratec 4 cylinder gets around 30 highway.
