E-Brake Question

I have an 03 F150, and I put a 7 inch lift on it. When I go around turns, there is a clicking noise coming from the rear. That, and when I go to reverse after releasing the E Brake it won't back up. I have to pull forward a little and then it will go. Is it lifted too high, and will lowering it a little fix the problem?

I don't know about your lift, but the e-brake is a crappy little drum set up that doesn't last very long or work very well. I had mine replaced because it was all in pieces making a lot of noise. Even the new brake barely holds me on a boat ramp. The clicking noise could be your limited slip.

Hey,

Thanks for the Info. I guess if everyone knew that it is a 4.2L XL 4x2 that would help. Sorry bout that. I am pretty sure that it doesn't have limited slip in the rear. In fact, my truck does one wheel burnouts. Wouldn't that mean I am without LS?

I'm pretty sure the height of your lift has nothing to do with it. I would start by pulling the rotors off in back and see how the parking brake shoes look. The clicking may be the self adjusters in the system

I think you may be on to something. I may have stretched something out when installing the blocks. When I go around a corner it sounds like a ticking noise. I am wondering if I screwed up the adjustment some how by lifting it too high. From my understanding, the cables can get stretched. Am I correct on that? If that can happen, then is it possible that the E Brake is not disengaging fully? By the way... THANKS for the HELP. Much appreciated.

Did you put on a body lift or a suspension lift?

All suspension. Its a good 7 inches of lift. The Fabtech longtravel kit. 7.5 inches in the front and about 7 inches in the rear. And not 7 inch blocks but a combo of block and leaf pack. I am thinking I stretched the cable out. I did find a wonderful part to the lift kit that I didn't see when putting the rest of it on. It is a e brake cable relcation bracket. Its there to take the tension off the cable that IS CURRENTLY THERE. Thanks guys. I really appreciate the help. I am just an idiot.

I will do that. I just have to get my camera out. Its not bad. I think that I am going to take out the custom racing seat setup, and find some nice 40 20 40 seats, or even some Lightning seats. I guess I am gettin old now and like the lift, but not the rest. My definition of cool has changed a bit now.
