My son toasted his Alternator by hooking up the jumper cables the wrong way, then he went to Advanced Auto and purchased a Powermaster POWERMASTER-One-Wire model 8-47140-- with my credit card for $130. This does not fit as it is too thick 4' vs 3.5 stock plus he got the (serpentine model not v-grove). Then he went on to remove and loose the serpentine pulley so I cant even return it now....
Anyway before I kill him someone stop me and tell me what Alt should I get.
I will be installing a winch and it does have spiral tech battery. I do prefer the one wire vs external regulated
Well..............you could just put a stocker back on it, as the simple fix. I've put GM one wire style's on a couple of my hot rods. Same basic case, just one terminal on back to run to battery, though I've custom mounted them so not exactly sure they are perfect replacement for stock location.
Do you have a competent rebuilder in your area? Look in phone book, as you could have them convert your original to one wire or just rebuild what's hurt.
you could have them convert your original to one wire
Not trying to hijack but I never heard of this.
Maybe I need to find more info in this? I do have a decent rebuilder in the area. What do I say if the guy looks at me like I have 2 heads when I ask.
