I have a possible bargain basement deal on a new Powermaster alternator... for my '65 352, (really a barter deal, but a good one.)
has anyone had any experience with a Powermaster 8-37141 or similar?
Right now I'm studying the Powermaster Website.
Is upgrading to a one wire system as easy as the on-line instructions say?
Quote, "
The only thing required to electronically hookup a one wire alternator is to run a charge wire from the battery terminal on the alternator to the positive terminal on the battery (or any positive battery source)"
That means the whole shooting match on one output of the alternator?
Yep. It really is that easy. I attached it to the positive wire that goes to the generator, but it is the same thing. The negative comes from the engine already being grounded, so you don't need a negative wire. This is assuming it has an internal regulator, which most do.
Excellent news. Thanks for the speedy reply gents. I guess I'll do the deeds..
Reading the FAQ about that model tells me it has an internal voltage regulator and requires the engine to turn at over 1500 rpm before it starts charging,
and stays on until it shuts down.
Fancy stuff.
