Trans cooler or Valve Body

ok so im about to beef up my trans before i put another chip in it and yea needless to say i took the edge out! so anyway im thinkin about what i can do to make it up to my trans. i dunno that what i was lookin at on my truck is the trans cooler cause its about the size of a truckstop pancake! i was thinkin about a JW valve body but then i got thinkin about a upgraded trans cooler. i found a wrecked 6leaker in the junk yard and trans cooler looks ok but is it even worth pullin it or should i spend more and get a good after market (if so) what kind is best deal/cooler. i am about to flush trans so thats why i was considerin valve body. soo come on with the info please!

You definitely need the VB or shift kit -- it really makes the truck that much better when combined with custom tuning (like DP or Tony Wildman), you have a hell of a running truck!! For the cooler, you can add a Tru-Cool in front of the AC condenser, which when inline with the stock cooler, gets you about the same capacity as replacing the stock unit with the 6.0 part. If you can get the 6.0 part for a decent price, go for it!! If it's more than the Tru-Cool (~$120), then I'd go that route and remove the risk of getting a clogged or broken cooler.

You can get the Tru-Cool from DieselSite, BTW. IMHO, it's best to get the tranny's shifting in better shape first, then get the cooler. If you tow heavy, then both are very important sooner than later!

The 6.0 Tranny cooler is a pretty good deal for these trucks much more then the 6.0 IC swap from what I have read. If you could do them both at the same time it would save you some time and your tranny will thank you Steve.

You waste a lot less tranny fluid doing it that way, but I think I would do the VB first if I couldn't do them both at the same time.

I run a BTS Valvebody it firmed up the shifts really nice(specially since I got my DP-Tuner chip installed). Believe it or not my truck (as heavy as they are) will bark the tires when it changes in to 2nd gear if I have it hammered.

JOHN WOODS! They are both $225. You can not count a core charge when you figure the cost of an item...you get it back...it's a core...
Yes, ITP Diesel is the place to go for the JWVB.
The reason I say this is the supposed reverse delay with the BTS AND another important thing is his doesn't need to be built different if you have a chip. Therefore you don't have to send stuff out to get rebuilt/reburned. You also can have your cake and eat it sooner with the JWVB for this reason.

ohh i see so the BTS has to be built around chip but JWVB has chip built around it.. oh ok! so the JWVB is a pretty straight foward install for what ive read so if im right i dont have to have a chip for it to amaze me right?

The valve body will tighten up the shifts( less heat) . Its not like a tuner but it is very noticable. You will still want to tell DP which vb you have when you order it and they will set it up accordingly.
