My Ford dealer did the recall on the CPS and the truck still dies but always restarts. It finally turned on the Service engine light. Autozone says that the only code is PO239(elct. circuit for boost pressure sensor "B").
I do not beleive that that would make the engine shut off and of course the dealer wants to charge up to $200 for diagnostic just in case it is not there new CPS.
What is that code telling me?????????
Thanks,
Kevin
It's telling you the scanners at Autozone and the rest of the parts stores won't read the codes on these motors. Does your check engine light stay on? If so there is a real code in there that will tell you the problem.
You could call around to some of the independent mechanic shops and see what they would charge to read your codes. Be sure and let them know what motor you have so they can tell you if their machine will work. If you think it's a bad CPS you could buy one from Ford (stay away from the parts stores) for $30 and change it yourself. Keep the old one as a spare just in case.
Maybe someone here who lives near you and has a scanner will see this and offer to help out. You could also buy your own scanner for around $340 if the dealer is the only one you can find to read the codes.
kind of figured that was the case with Autozone again. The could not pull a code out when the VSS went bad either. I thiyght that maybe they had changed to better equipment. HaHaHa.I
