Coworkers truck missing, cutting off

Friend at work has a nice low mileage 2002 7.3 that has had some issues. Pulled the codes a week ago and some related to cps came up, he put in a new one from Ford and it hasn't gotten any better.

Riding down the road it will just miss once or twice and sometimes it will keep doing it until he pulls over. He turns it off and it will run fine for a while. Starts good, doesn't seem to be fuel related, does it hot or cold full tank of fuel. Checked the codes for him again and got>

PO733 Gear 3 incorrect ratio
p1209 injector control pressure peak delta test fault (he unplugged it at one point)
p1316 injector driver module codes detected
po344 CPS sensor A circuit intermittent (it has a new one he got from dealership)
po478 exhaust pressure control valve A high

p1211 icp higher lower than desired

He has a edge programmer on it but it does it in stock or turned on but may account for some of the codes.

Any ideas where to start?

This is not from an expert by no means.
I would unplug the edge. Check the wiring harness to look for shorts. Check the big plug for burnt pins and check ohms. Check under the valve covers. After that I would holler for help. I hope this helps some. I'm sure somebody with more know how will be along soon.

He has an older Edge that is under the hood, not plugged in to the OBDii port and i'm not sure how to unplug it. It doesn't look like it hooks up like a chip to the pcm but he had it on stock when it started doing it.

I haven't looked at the 42 pin connector other than make sure it was on tight, I was thinking UVCH all along but don't know how to check.

He also had some weird electrical stuff with his tach and computer that was throwing me off a bit but that may have been fixed when he put in new alternators and batteries.

How would I unplug the Chip/programmer Edge? it looks like mine (EVO) but it is different. He bought it used a few months ago and doesn't know much beyond that.

Can you monitor/log live data and run tests like KOEO and injector buzz?

All I have is Dash Command, that's what I checked his codes with. I have the Edge EVO in my Excursion but it's never missed a beat in 220K haha..... Well not counting Alt's, water pumps etc. no running issues.

Will it monitor ICP, IPR duty cycle and injector pulse width? Does he have a fuel pressure gauge in the truck?

look closely at the icp, oil will start to work it's way through it and casue it to mess up with out codes. aslo when the fuel heater shorts out it can throw all sorts of codes,
but first I second un hooking the edge chip, some chip plug directly into the computer.

No fuel gauge, I'm not sure but I think it can monitor ICP but that's about it. The way it misses it's more like someone turns off the switch for a milli second. I opened the fuel bowl drain and turned on the switch and the fuel came out fast. I just don't think it's a fuel problem... But I could be wrong

I thought when the fuel bowl crapped out it blew a fuse, I could unplug it for sure. Also thought about the leaky windshield but it hasn't rained here in a while, well until tonight anyway haha.

I'll see if we can unplug the Edge today at work to see if that helps.

Did the '02 trucks have the updated clips for the uvch? Do they still come loose?

My OEM UVCH came loose and after replacing both sides along with the main engine harness I included the $.50 mod. So, I would say yes that the '02s can come loose.

Ohmed out his uvch's, all checked out but truck ran good all day. unplugged the chip, but it was this afternoon after it ran good all day. couldn't figure out how to log data on Dash Command. Anything else? we work 60-80 hours a week so kinda hard to spend to much time on it, trying to narrow it down.

Thanks

Just an update, my friend went to the dealer who replaced.... Yup #8 injector with no help (gasp!) I told him to check the uvch's and he said looked good. Then told him to check the 42 pin, shoulda told him that first in hindsight, but he saw some corrosion and cleaned 'em up and now all is good.

Told him not to replace old #8, but he trusted Ford heh heh. Looks like they would know by now haha.
