I'm running a stock E250 with Michelin 245/75-R16's all around, new or good suspension (no sags) and there are no clearance issues ever so far.
I have added a heavy Hellwig rear anti-sway bar, upgraded the front bar to a heavier duty Hellwig too along with Bilstein schocks so not much chance of body roll that might cause a tire rub.
They do fit close up front to the eye but operation wise they've not been a problem at all.
I might have a photo or two in my gallery showing more of this---if not I could snap a few showing this a bit better for you.
That might be stretching it a bit. Of course that depends whether the suspension springs aren't sagging or weak where they'd deflect too much during a bump and cause a rub.
I need help. I'm about to buy a 2007 econoline and wanna know if I put a 17in rim on it what's the biggest tire I can use without having issues? Thanks
I need new tires for my 06 E-150 passenger van. Stock size is a P235/70/16 Mich. LTX (29 in tall). I think the tires look a little small for the van and was thinking of going to a 245/75/16 (30.5 in) or even a 255/75/16 (31.1 in). I'm wondering about clearance inside the wheel wells while turning and I already know about the speedo issue. I hope you guys can help me out as I will have to order the tires by Monday. Thanks.
did u ever put the larger tires on?? If so did they rub
Did you guys read my posts from above? The front of an E150 can take about 29.5" diameter if you want the van to steer and don't want to cut sheet metal, and the rear can take up to about 30.5" but the effective gearing change will reduce gas mileage and performance. That means 245/70x16 is about the biggest tire you can put on the front. Watch out for wheel offset also.
I'm running LT245/75/16 cooper AT3's C-rated on an 04 E-150 and they definitely rub on the sway bar at full lock, and if I take a turn too sharp and pitch the body hard I can feel it rub, though I'm not sure where on fender well it's rubbing. - I'm planning on putting moog cc880 front coils soon, which should take care of the rubbing issues, but though I'd confirm that they will rub for sure. I've got the 5.4 w/ 3.55 LSD. It hasn't effected towing, but my highway mpg's took a 1-2 mpg hit. City mileage is about the same as the OEM size.
