need help with brakes...

Hi, I have a 97 f150 4x4. I am trying to change the rear brakes and can't get the drums off (seized). Also there seems to be a cap on there, I don't think the drum will slide off but I don't want to assume it's supposed to come off and hammer on it if it's not. I've tried the heat and oil trick and it didn't work.
Any ideas or suggestions????

Hey, i just had to replace a piston screw in my rear brakes, it popped off and was scraping, but anyway. I thought mine were seized..until i realized the parking brake was on, pop the parking brake, give it a few tings with a hammer, and pull it straight off, it should work. Also, you don't need to touch the cap, it doesn't look like it would come off too easy anyway.

Take the 5 lb hammer and take that drum off. I have had to use that more than once and so long as you work around the drum you should be okay.
