back seat

I have the 05 fx 4 scab, will the seat back on the rear seat fold down, and if it does is there enough room for a sub setup, the factory system sucks and I am looking to improve.

I am looking to put in a sub as well but havent done so yet. I have everything sitting in my living room, i am just waiting to measure for the box that I will build.

I will attempt to stuff a 12" sub in there since I got it so cheap. I think i would rather have an 8 or 10 inch sub to be honest

as for upgrading the system . . . i can not stress enough how much happier you will be with component speakers in the front

for the rear all you have to do is get some decent coaxials and you will be amazed how much better it sounds . . . it really does sound great, plus, you can crank that sucker up with little to no distortion at full volume

i play metallica at full blast OFTEN and have to durn the bass and treble DOWN lol

good luck . . . those of you with subs, please chime in with any advice for us

thanks in advance

by the way, i went with the kicker component speakers for the front which includes the speaker, tweeter and crossover pretty simple install
in the rear i have the polk speakers

let me know if you have any questions or if you need specifics

for the kickers, i went through ebay cause there is one seller who has them for a steal(like 50 bucks)
and the polks are/were on sale on crutchfield for like 49.99 . . . i grabbed the last scratch and dent pair at 30 bucks!!
check them for great deals and amazing customer service!

They make boxes that fit under the rear seat if you would be happy with that. I have one that is for 2 10's. There are several options out there. You might be able to fit a sub behind the rear seat if it is one of the new shallow mount ones. It would be really tight though..

If the seats are like the ones on the 08's, then nope, they don't fold down. The bottom folds up, and the one on the left is nothing but a sub-box for the audiophile system. Sounds great, and seems to be bulletproof, but it makes it hard to put anything there when the seats up. I guess that's why they have a bed on the damn thing...lol

P.S. I've heard removing the seat backs is a BIATCH!!

I bought my sub box from supercrewsounds.com. It fits under the back seat and disappears. AND it was just a bit under $200. I have 2 JL audio 10s. Check out my system in my gallery, I have pics of all my system. I installed my system this time last year. Also you can check out blacklariots gallery, he should have some pics of his system as well. He was a tremendous help to me when I put my system in. Oh! The back seat is not that bad to remove, once you've taken it out once it's a piece of cake. Just do a search on this forum for back seat. Good luck. One more thing, I bought all of my system from Car Audio Video - Car Subwoofers - Car Amplifiers and Speakers and saved alot of money on top of the line equipement.
