Has anybody else had the problem of the seat back recline handle breaking off? The splined shaft coming out of the side of the seat (made of plastic) broke off on mine. To fix it, you have to replace the entire seat back "latch assembly", $138 from Ford. Once you pull the seat out, you have to disassemble the seat back-seat bottom. I did mine yesterday....

 

Hi Bob! I took the handle itself off one time on mine, so I kind of know what you are talking about. The splined shaft certainly didn't look invincible, to say the least.

How long did it take you to do the repair? $140 from Ford for the part, too. Can you imagine what the bill would have been if you dropped it off at the dealer?

It took me about an hour and a half. About 10 minutes to pull it out of the truck, and I took it into my TV shop (with AC) to change the part out. Now that I know how the seat back & bottom are put together, It wouldn't take as long to do it again....
