I am definitely going to purchase a new chip for my 01 F250 7.3 Diesel. I am pretty sure I want a DP tuner but want to make sure it is as good or better than the Wildman chip. Any input from you guys that have tried both is greatly appreciated. Also, what tunes from DP would you reccommend? This truck is my daily driver that i want to make fun to drive and probably end up racing with some buddies so i want alot of power. The truck is stock except for an AFE stage 2 intake, gauges, and 4 inch straight pipe exhaust. What tunes do you reccommend? thanks for the help
You say your truck is stock but your sig lists a 6" lift & 35" tires - are those future mods? So you know, bigger tires will hurt your acceleration, and the 6" lift will increase air drag for you as well. The lift will mostly help kill your mileage but beware going around turns too fast. That's ALOT of weight to put up higher. just an FYI for you, but the tunes listed (assuming you won't be towing) should do ya right!
CSIPSD and Izzy351 both have had both tunes. From thier posts it seems like their concensus is they are both comparable to each other. Niether is better. Better off getting the info from them, but thought I would pass it on.
If you have TW's tunes, don't waste your time/$$$ on the DP. I just swapped my DP for Tony's and they are virtually equal by the SoTP dyno. I have no reason to believe that they wouldn't be virtually equal on the real dyno as well. Your profile says you are in CA, which Texas is a lot closer to than GA. If you want more (or updated tunes for your mods), send the chip to Tony and have him do it. I happen to live a few miles from Tony, so the swap with personal service was a no-brainer for me. He can definitely tune a truck at least as well as Jody, so you're not missing anything. In your case, it may save a day or two off shipping time (unless you pony up for overnight/express shipping). Other than that, it's your call...
EDIT: If you *DO* end up pulling the trigger, get them set up for tranny mods and spring for a John Wood VB (or equivalent shift kit). Your truck will definitely appreciate you for it...
The truck does have a 6 inch lift with 35's on it. I meant the truck was mostly stock performance wise. The tunes I was leaning towards was stock, no start, 80 econo, 120, and 140 aggressive. What do you guys think about these tunes for what I am using the truck for?

Those are fine, but what tunes do you have from Tony now??
I don't think for one minute you would have any problem with either tuner. After having my DP-Tuner for about 2 years, I found my likes and dislikes and had Jody address them. I just reinstalled my NEW chip that got from Jody at Smokin and they are exactly to my specification, he nailed the programming perfectly just by telling him what I wanted!
My new tune line-up:
0- No start
1- Stock
2- High Idle
3- Lope Idle
4- 40 tow
5- 60 tow
6- 80 tow
7- 80 econo
8 - 120 race
9- 140 aggresive
10- 80 econo big oil tune (specifically for Terminator dual HPOPs)
I dont have any of tonys tunes right now. i have a superchip and was looking to replace it with either DP or tony's. I was leaning towards DP but wanted to make sure I was going the right way. For all you guys that have a DP tuner, what setting do you usually keep it on while daily driving such as highway and city?

Oh, man...
I totally misread your post... It somehow stuck in my head that you had TW tunes already. My excuse is that I'm trying to get my taxes done and the more I work on them, the more I seem to owe. Sitting around 2500 in the hole, so I figured I'd come here and take a break.
To answer your question, the DP80E or TW Daily/Econo are by far the most popular. Here's what's strange -- I *seem* to be getting a little better mileage out of the TW daily than I did out of the 80E. Not sure if that's because I've been more mellow lately, or what, but it's definitely there. I was getting 15-16, with a drop to the 14s after getting my tranny done & tunes to match (I just couldn't keep my foot out of it!! ), but now I'm getting 16-17. I don't *THINK* I'm driving different, but who knows?? Just passing my data on to you all. Not conclusive by any means...
lol i feel you man. I just got done with my taxes. It aint fun. Say I got the chip in and drove in 120 or 140 alot (thats probably what ill do at first) lol. Will this hurt my truck at all other than mileage for daily driving?
Asuming that your truck is in good working order, running around in the 120 or 140 won't hurt anything other than your wallet. I think that you will find that the 80 is very close to what you get out of the 120 and 140 tunes on a stock HPOP anyway. The only thing you will see a difference in is the color of the smoke is much darker as you move into the 120 and 140 settings.
