My dad is retired California Highway Patrol (CHP) and I attened the CHP Academy until my back gave out. I had to resign...Unemployment...State Disability...life goes on...I'm now an IT Programmer Analyst for the State of Idaho.
My dad always told me, you RARELY talk your way out of a ticket, but you can ALWAYS talk your way into a ticket.

i noticed that. i once spoke disrespectfully becase i thought the ticket was unjust, then i was threatened to get 5 more tickets. some cops can be a** holes. but i learned quick to accept what you get cuz you prolly earned it and be nice lol, i have had a share of respectful cops and troopers let me off on minor stuff too. honesty is a good thing too haha, you guys are prolly good on tellin who is full of bs

Ya, F700, thank you for keeping the citizens of GA safe. They may never say that to ya, but i might as well.
I occasionally do speed, and i am willing to accept my consequences, if caught, but im not exactly going to try to get caught either...
What is the flashing ticket called?
That's actually why I started using my emergency flashers, is because i can say i saw something in the road back behind me in the other lane...
And as for the Slam-On-The-Brakes thing, that PO's me. What ever happened to gently downshifting? If you're speeding, you shouldnt be speeding so much that downshifting wouldnt take care of it (ex: 5-7mph over)

the flashing ticket can be charged under a couple of infractions due to officer discretion and lack of discretion in some cases
some charges used here inour county for flashing your headlights at oncoming motorists-
1) Impersonating a emergency vehicle
2) Obstruction- hindering a police officer from carrying out his lawful duties.
(which is what I charged the driver with)
the first one, well in my opinion is awful "iffy" but it has gone through in some court cases.
I prefer to make a solid case, in my time in L.E. I can roughly say without dragging all of my copies out UI have made well in excess of 3,000 citations, but that is over eleven years too.
I have lost only one (1) case ever. I always detail every scenario in every report and dictate the tape playback in my incar video so that, no details are left out, I even lay out the weather, time of day, temperature, traffic flow, lighting conditions, road grades if any, because running radar on a grade in excess of 7% is illegal. I detail their clothing and have them step out to sign their citations to futher give a better description of the drivers, while they are signing I pay attention to vehicle details, dents, dings, cracked glass etc..
my reports are long, but they can't be picked apart, the GREAT thing is my camera actually is digital and records events back 30 seconds before the actual stop, you can actually see my speed and the target speed and the actual infraction at times, their is no questioning that..... so the the courts and attorneys can see everything right up to the stop and including the stop, the demeanor of the driver, passengers.
we will soon have cameras that are in our walkie's in part due to a grant, that will allow us to describe the contents in vehicles, and their inventory, you actually will have a first person view of the entire event too.
