Wow, that's really cool. I've been following this thread for a while, but I have no info for you on that clock. Neither of my trucks have the full plastic insert either, that's different... It'll be cool to see some other folks opinions on the clock...
Ok gents this is the clock it is molded into the piece around the glove box door it is one complete molded piece. Has this been seen before????????????????????????????????
Nope, I still stand by my original statement that the only clock offered was in the radio. There was no other clock option. There should be a manufacture name on the back side. I would presume someone cut a hole in the dash for it and it is a snap in fit. Keep in mind there were a ton of aftermarket companies doing different things to these trucks back in the day.
any takers on what that is out of? a 1980 Oldsmobile Tornado ..... yeap hate to break it to those who still want it to be factory, or dealer it is just a dang dang good fabrication is all and not out of the realm of someone doing it
BrentLee where does that clock mount can you show me the dash area for that clock you posted?
Well if it is a snap in I tell yo some one did a dam good job and then why the mounting screws on the back side that hold it to the trim piece? Ok maybe it was aftermarket piece but it was not snap in. When I get the chance to take it out I will get pics of it on the back side and any part numbers I can
It sure looks genuine to me, and here's the Ford part number.
D8TZ-15A000-A .. Clock Kit-Dealer installed only.
Fits: 1978/79 F100/350.
Econolines also offered a similar clock 1978/79: D8UZ-15A000-A. The difference between the two clocks was in the length of the clock's wiring harness.
The clock by itself is the same one as used in 1974/78 Mustang II's and 1975/80 Granada/Monarchs: D4ZZ-15000-B.
Just because y'all have never seen one, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Besides the accessory brochures handed out to customers, the parts department had their own loose leaf accessory catalog...full of all kinds of goodies, not shown in brochures.
Why were these clocks offered?
Some ppl wanted a clock, but not a radio, and not all the radios offered a clock. The el cheapo non pushbutton AM radio didn't come with a clock.
To bad it is in my 77 highboy though was it possibly a factory ordered special option in that time Numberdummy????? HOW RAER WAS THIS OPTION I WAS THINKING MAYBE A FLEET TYPE OPTION???????

It was not available from the factory.
It was a dealerinstalled Genuine Ford Accessory, so it could have been added to an earlier model.
Don't mean to "pull rank" on y'all, but how many ppl on FTE were Ford partsmen back then?
I did, brand new 79 F-150 4x4, and like you, I think I know the other person that did as well. It looks like I stand corrected. That has got to be one of the rarest dealer add-ons.

My posting the info was not meant to make anyone look bad...so please don't take it that way. The other person also insisted it was not genuine Ford.
