From the Blue Oval website where the factory guys hang out:
The 6.7 is rumored to be called the Scorpion. Theres another post on this somewhere. Anyway, I think its suppose to have around 500hp and 650-700lbs tq. I don't remember exactly, but its around there. It hasn't been released yet, but that is what Igor said he heard.
The 4.4 is suppose to be called the Lion. Its suppose to have around 350hp and 515 lbs tq. Numbers weren't released. There numbers are again what Igor heard

And this:
- Even though the current 6.4L uses a 3rd party fuel injection system, the "after treatment" technology was developed and is owned by Ford.
- While most people believe that the 4.4L and the Scorpion are direct decendents of the European Lion (which does use Navistar "technology") these engines are more closely related to the Puma (which does not have any Navistar technology). The rest of the base engine design was done by Ford in the US.
- There has been a supplier change in the "base" fuel injection system from the current 6.4L

Fred, you need to get to work on a new name for this engine...Maybe something manly like the 6.7 thorseshoeing, it doesn't get much more manly than that...I'll give you that idea for free if you promise me the first one free...

IMO...I am all for the 500hp and 650-700 lbs/tq...if they can get 17-20mpg while empty...and 12-14mpg towing. If not...leave those numbers for the aftermarket.
OBTW: Seems pretty logical that FORD will continue with the PSD name. They own it don't they?

Hello all;
It is my understanding that the 6.4 will not meet the emissions standards for 2010. With based on this, I would assume (could be wrong) that the 6.4 will not be long for this world no matter how great it is. The 6.7 is being designed from the get-go to meet the new requirements. Based on these assumptions, it is fairly safe to assume the 6.7 will replace the 6.4 in 2010. The other piece of the puzzle is that there is a rumor that the 4.4 will be an option in the SD also. This would be good because if you want diesel mileage and durability get the small one, if you want brute power, get the big one.
Overall the plan makes sense to me. Now we just need to wait and see....

The 6.4 was built to meet 2010 emission standards and beyond.
