Code 1247

Does anyone know what code P1247 means on a 5.4 gas engine?

What are your symptoms? Is it searching for idle? Kinda revs up and down on its own while sitting stopped? If so, my guess may be the Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve. They are fairly cheap to purchase and easy enough to do yourself. Some times you can even get by with just removing it and cleaning it. Anyone else have any thoughts?

Hypertech used to put a disclaimer in the instructions that if anything weird happened after using their product to give their techys a call. Have you talked with them yet?

Have you ever replaced the fuel filter? If so, try to locate the (tire valve stem) type valve on the passenger side fuel rail and remove the cap. Place a rag over the valve and press gently with something small down in the center. See if you have any fuel pressure release. If not, you may be having fuel pump issues.

Just trying to help with the easy to check stuff first!

Keep in mind that the IAC's only function is at idle. So if you are experiencing power loss, I doubt it is the issue. However, that said, if it does not idle and hold an idle you can try the cleaning method. It is located at the rear of the intake. It will be mounted with two small bolts. (10mm I think) Each one I have seen has been silver but you can't really see it just standing in front of the truck. You have to crawl up under the hood and reach for it. I'll try to see if I can search for a picture to help explain location.
