I bought a 2002 F150 that has matrix headlights on it. The LED lights on the bottom of the assembly are not hooked up. I was wondering if anyone else has these headlights or know what the LED's are for, and how are they to be connected? Matrix 09-1156 - Matrix Projector Headlamp Sets - summitracing.com
The link shows what they look like on the summit racing websit, if that doesn't work it is part number GRM-09-1156. There are two pairs of wire that look like they connect to the LED's but they are not connected to anything....If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it! Thanks
I would piggy back them off the driving lights myself. LED's don't draw hardly any current. What bulbs fit these lights? I'm gonna upgrade mine soon and these look good.
Yes. There's cheaper ones that can be found on eBay too. I guess the higher priced ones are are being resold. You can just get HID bulbs and stick them in your stock housings for a lot of light.
they don't wire the led's into the harness... that way you can hook them up however you like. They should be in two sets of three. I would go with one set hooked to my driving lamp and the other set to my flasher... that way they are all lit and then the three outside ones blink when you turn on your turn signal
mine don't actually have the led's.... they look like they do, but they do have the halo's. They left the halo's out of the harness for me to wire how I wanted also. Hooked them up to my driving lamps so I could have them on without my headligths
There are two sets of two wires..one set is black and blue, the other 2 are both red. I hooked the black and blue up to the driving lamp and they do work. Not sure what to do with the pair of red wires. But thanks for the help everyone!
Do the red wires have a relay on them? And are you talking about one red wire on each light?
There was a red power wire on each of my lights. I couldn't figure out what is was because the lights worked fine without it, I had tested them and no power ran through them at all... but I noticed how badly my lights were dimming with the stereo turned on, and realized that they were supposed to be hooked staright to the battery.
That way when you turned the lights on, the relay would allow the headlights to suck power straight from the battery.. NO more diimming headlights.
yeah, they are a pain, and you can kinda tell by my picture that they still don't sit back as far as they should on the outside by the blinker.
the only advice I can give you is to look at your stock headlights.... measure how far the plastic pieces are on the screws.... try to start there and adjust from there.
