CCV mod over the weekend

Just did the CCV mod over the weekend. Use the straight out the back versoin, hose comes our just under the fuel tank, and replaced all the o-rings on the dog house. Thanks for all the CCV posting, your detailed debates are great to read.

does a person have to run the hose over the brake booster like some people have or can i just go stright down. reason i ask is i read on here quite a while back that someone ran the line and i am not sure if they put it over the brake booster but i think they ran it to the rear of the truck, but had an issue of the line freezing from condensation in the line in the winter. it gets cold where i live in the winter and i am afaid of this happening, but if i were to run the line down somewhere in the engine compartment it should stay warm even in the -35* weather and not freeze, i really want to do this mod.

i ran mine over the brake boost then ended it right at the fraim rail by the front tire..never froze up on me there..some times the smoke would bother me..so i am trying a new idea in hopes it works..so far so good..

I see a small amount of steam coming from hose during idle. The hose is downhill all the way to the front of the gas tank.

I think the purpose of routing up and over the master cylinder was to allow the heavier oil vapors to condense back to oil and drain back into the valve cover. You shouldn't have to worry about that part freezing.

Ron, it looks like your dumping the CCV into a closed tube? Will this not create back pressure in the system? Instead of the drain plug on the end have you considered a media like the old CC vents that mounted on the valve covers used to use?

no it is not closed up..if anything at all it may be sucking to much....look at the pic's again..i cut a hole 2 1/2" x 8" in the PVC and filled it with a air filter from a hot air furnace..it collects moisture, breaths freely and it collects dust so it should work good.....the ccv still blows smoke freely..the blue furnace filter catches the oil droplets and the smoke gets sucked into the air filter...so far so good..but i havent looked at it in a couple day's..been busy replacing all the brake lines on a 98 f150......ill check it out after supper...

Has anyone seen my Stupid sign? I must have lost it.

Sorry Ron. That's the 3rd time I've followed that link and I just found the next button to see the other 12 photos. Kind of makes more sense now.
