03 Rim Bolt Pattern ??

Does anyone know what the actual bolt pattern is... I've found these rims real cheap here in town and the bolt pattern is 8X 170mm He says they fit 04 models and newer ???? I didn't know the pattern changed from 03 to 04 ??

Anybody know ???

8x170mm pattern fits 99 and newer SDs.

Backspacing will determine how well they fit a 99-04 vs. a 05-08.

Yep, backspacing would be different as would off set on the same size wheel for a 99-04 vs. 05-08.

For a 99-04, you want to stick around 4.5" Back Space. So, if it's a 10" wide wheel you are looking at it's a -25mm offset.

You know your wheels !!!! Its a 16" X 8" rim.. I think there isn't much difference in that width of rim for back spacing is there ????

16"x8" means it's for a 99-04, meaning it will fit your 03 just fine. 16" wheels can't fit 05+ trucks because the brake calipers will hit.

Right 16s will only fit a 99-04

16x8 with 4.5" Back Space would be 0 offset.

Here's a link with specs and a chart to help figure out offset and backspace with different widths of wheels:

Thanks, yep that link is helpful to show how offset changes depending on wheel width with the same backspacing.

And to show how offset and backspacing are measured.

I been looking into wheels myself. I was thinking of going with a 16x9 with 315/75's. The last set of wheels I found was on ebay and the guy said they didnt make center caps with the cut outs for manual hubs, for them. He said they just popped off easy to lock/unlock them. Didnt like that idea so my search continues!

Thanks guys. I agree that that is a very helpful link to have.

Somewhat related, and another very useful link to help explains things about alignments is (normally more important when explaing caster to the 05-08 guys with lifts):
Wheel Alignment A Short Course

With the "G" projects I have on the burner, that info is priceless. Wheel offset was something I was unclear about.

BTW - the 99 and onward rims have a lot more clearance between them on dually rear end setups, the sidewalls of dual tires are farther apart and less likely to 'scrub' than older duallies. They are also bigger, I think (if I remember right) that they were designed for Sterling 10.25 rear axles which is why they are metric.
