my 91 f250 key switch sticks when i start it. it sticks in the crank position. i actually gotta turn it back myself or the starter keeps running. how can i fix this? is there something that need grease??
Probably one of three reasons for key sticking in the "start" position. Theonlybull has covered one. Another is the ign. switch actuator sticking. This is in the steering column just below the key switch and a PITA to lube. Finally there is the ign./start switch, this should have a strong return spring to return the switch to the "run" position. The ign./start switch is located on top of the steering column and under the dash and is connected to the key switch by a thin rod. My money is on the ign./start switch unless your key is hard to turn at all times.
My 88 model is stiff on return and if I turn it to OFF the A/C fan and backup lights stay on unless I push the button and turn it to LOCK. How do you remove the lock cylinder?
Sign_man, you can remove the lock barrel by rotating key to "on" position and pushing an eigth inch drill bit or similar into the small hole under where the barrel sits. Then just withdraw the barrel. As dan91 says I would think your problems go deeper.
