well. I managed to screw up my truck before 10am today. Last night I took the "Ford Spontaneous Combustion Recall" fuse from my 95 to put on my 96. I drive my 96 to verify that the cruise did indeed work, before messing with the system.
Turns out the cruise doesn't work in this truck. Upon further inspection, the original plug has been replaced with the same type of plug, the was but spliced to the old wires. The only ploblem is that I took the plug off to clean up the splices and plugs to then reattach it to hopefully get the cruise working.
Now I'm sitting here feeling stupid, not marking the white wires to know how they connect to the black and green wires. I'm contemplating going home over lunch and cutting the plug with black and green wires from my 95 to put on my 96, or pulling the whole wiring harness so that my 96 has a non butchered harness. I have no idea how hard that would be though.
I'm wondering why the original plug was replaced in the first place.

This truck didn't have the fused link installed. That's actually how I found out about it. I was going to put the one I have from my old truck in, then found out that I've got a mess going on. I'm gonna have to do some research on cruise control (something I know nothing about), because I used my old truck as a reference to put it back together and it still doesn't work.
