Bought some all thread, nuts, lock washer, gasket maker, gasket, coolant, and thermostat. Threw the bolts away, cut some studs, screwed studs in, flushed the block, put in new thermostat and sealed it all up. I'll top off the coolant and crank her up in a couple days to make sure it was all a success.

installed a cheapo muffler, just to pass inspection. removed the tailpipe from around the axle. Currently the exhaust runs down the manifold through the cat. converter into the muffler and thats the end of the exhaust system.
Also put some UV leak finder in the oil. Found more leaks than i expected. Need to replace the oil pan gasket and the pushrod cover gasket amoung others. Will it ever end??

You'd better hope not; when you stop having to fix things, you've either sold the truck, or died. With me, it'll probably be the latter.

I know exactly what you meant. And I meant exactly what I said. Even if you stay on top of things, seals dry and crack, mating surfaces shift, it's just part of the life of an internal combustion engine. Saw a wet spot under my truck today, so I'll just check all the fluids tomorrow and see what's low, not too worried about it.

Its always nice to see something put back together. What is that filter looking deal in the middle. I didn't think our trucks had an air filter for the AC.

Drove ten feet from the driveway and the left rear wheel locked up. Backed it into the carport and pulled the wheel to find two broken springs and a mangled adjuster that had fallen into the shoe and bent it too. bought rebuild kit/spring kit for both. Pulled the right side and broke the drum in the process. I guess today I will be doing a brake job before I go to the lumber company to get the lumber for the new garage wall.

thanks, this will be a nice daily driver for sis but this truck has no A/C, no P/W or door locks I'm not sure what filter your talking about? are you talking about the air vent next to radio and glove box? if so they put that there so I have place to put a air freshner.

Put a door handle for an '85 in my '95 driver door, now it matches the passenger side and should stop breaking. Hopefully.

He's asking about the big air door next to the heater core plenum in the first picture you posted with the dash not in place yet.

My truck isn't idling terribly smooth, worse with the AC on. I believe it to be fuel injectors and I knew my valve cover gasket was leaking so I tore into it.

Not too bad for 187k on the clock and running conventional oil. I am kinda curious why the rockers for #6 seem to have some buildup on them while the others seem to have none.

The paint was chipped in a few places on my valve cover so I decided to paint it. I really liked the blue I used on my '74 so I used the same. I decided to paint the intake black. I thought if I did it blue as well it would look fairly ricer-ish.

Here is the valve cover re-installed with a new gasket. When I figure out exactly what I am going to do about injectors I'll put it back together.

Did the Taurus dome light swap..
Before..

During..

Had to cut off this little tab to get it to mount right.

Then screw it on. 3 screws thats it.

Has 3 42mm Festoon bulbs. 1 for dome and 1 for each map light.

Looks much better now

Hopefully will be ordering the LEDs today. Still debating on blue or white LEDs. Every other light in my truck is a blue LED. But I don't know about a blue dome light.
