This oughta quiet the beast down!

Well I got my straight pipe 4" exhaust done last weekend but it was a lot louder than I liked (mostly didn't like the raspiness of it).

So I ordered this thing and just got it today.

Huge muffler (30" long)! Got a great deal on it too.

Seems to be a normal size considerng the application. The muffler I pulled from my truck was at least as big, though not nearly as nice. Is that stainless steel?

Well it's one of the bigger ones Magnaflow makes.

I'm just more used to cars, which don't use mufflers quite this big

And yeah it's polished stainless. Not particularly what I wanted, but it was cheaper than the satin stainless version of the same thing (the place I bought it from only had the polished ones)

Are the internals SS or is it just the case? I'm thinking of getting a muffler for my truck eventually.

That is one of those which should be outside the truck to show off and be proud of.

Yep it seems a bit too pretty to hide under the truck...

David, it is my understanding that Magnaflow mufflers are 100% stainless. If you think you MIGHT want something similar to what I got, I'd recommend checking these guys out:

eBay Seller: partsplusautostore: diesel muffler, Parts Accessories, eBay Motors items on eBay.com

Mine is #14772. Trust me, you can't beat $93 shipped for that muffler, it's $120+ at most other places without shipping. A lot of places have the satin version for around $105 but again, that's without shipping.

Edit: On second thought, just go to ebay and search "diesel muffler," there's a couple good ones up for fairly cheap right now. Also I wouldn't recommend the AFE mufflers- I was lured by their low price and looked them up online, and they have louvered cores.

Dam thats cheap! I've been quoted $250 for diesel mufflers locally (not SS). Please keep us posted on how it works for you, I'm very tempted to try it. 100% stainless steel, could be the last muffler you ever need, thats MY kind of product!!

I'm hard to miss anyway, 6'4" 260-some lbs with a shaved head...haha

But yeah I can let you guys know how it works. Whoever is quoting you $250 for a muffler is ripping you off!

Magnaflow has a good reputation but I've never used one, guess I'll find out how good they are.

Diesel mufflers? isn't that what the turbo does?

Sounds like you got a good deal Magnaflow make a good product. When i get the money I'm going to put in the turbo outlet and 3" down pipe with a 4" stainless magnaflow exaust minus the muffler.

Its wierd seeing some one for the first time. Looks like you don't have much head room in there.

ghunt: Not sure which is shinier, the muffler or the head.
Magnaflow makes some good mufflers. It'll be on your truck a good long while.

That's what the turbo is SUPPOSED to do, just not enough for my liking on this truck (again, didn't really want the gas V8 sound).

And no, I don't have much headroom. I'm 6'4" and the ceilings in my apartment are around 6'8"-7'. In fact that was in the kitchen which has the most headroom in the whole place, and it still isn't much.

LOL, hey Jim, ya got to be careful online, never know who is on the other end, or how big he might be .

ghunt, let us know how that works for you. The only thing stopping me from getting a muffler (asside from time) is I don't want to loose that turbo wistle that I have right now. Though it would be nice to be able to engine brake again.....

i have an old one from my F-150 i dont need...wonder what i should do with it. i also tought bout using a small case for my smoker.
