I had thought about that. Its still being used by the engine right now (amsoil is sitting on my tool box). How did you tap into the dip stick. Just weld a fitting on to return? Does that mess with your dip stick while checking fluid level? Seems like it would give you a wrong reading.
Edit: by that I mean the fluid running down the dipstick tube getting on the dipstick itself making reading the dipstick kinda hard

The dip stick is 2 piece. I modded the lower part with a fitting.
The filter has a shut off valve so i can check fluid level.
You could return the fluid to the pan via the drain bolt if you have one.
I would not do it this way.

Gotcha! I have a spare dipstick tube now Might have to play with it.
Just a heads up, when mine barfed I got the seal changed and replace the bushing to an upgraded set, the bushing had a grove cut into it. I have since then had my temp hit 200 and thats off my test port so it looks like the innards of the tranny hit 220deg from reading this thread. Not a leak since then.
Usually I'm running at 160deg on the highway, 175-180 in the city with a heavy foot and a 100deg+ summer day.
Some of you have posted about tranny fluid pukin out the dipstick at relavitly low temps. This isn't just from heat, it could be areation caused from cavitation of the pump or poor pickup tube seal or overfilling the tranny causing the planetaries and such to "churn" the fluid. Or it could also be a clogged breather too. Just some thoughts.
BTW, Most trannies consider 160-220 "normal operating temps" And anything above 300 deg the fluid starts to break down. Some good points have been raised though, Synthetic is the way to go!
