This has been a good year for my truck! JUst ordered a new downpipe and a 203* thermostat. That downpipe should keep the PSD from melting down, I hope! I got 1225* empty the other day and kinda scared myself. I still wanted to push her more, so I got thinking, what if I'd been pulling my trailer??? Oh yeah, I'm getting my old camper changed over to 5th wheel hitch so I can pull it and my boat!
After I had my 4" exhaust put on it sure woke up the truck, I hear alot of guys like that 203 thermostat also. You sure are getting lots of good stuff for your truck, and I can't complain either both my trucks have done well so far this year. How come you have to put a 5th wheel on your trailer to pull your boat and trailer?
Not sure if it's federal, but I've seen the details in the Manitoba transport act stating that if you are pulling 2 trailers, the lead trailer has to be 5th wheel style. Don't remember the exact wording, but it left no room for bumper hitch or gooseneck on the lead trailer.
The advertised levels are roughly 30, 50, 80 horse. They are higher for the superduty trucks. I always leave it on the top one. Those HP ratings are for a stock OBS truck. Mines not stock. With the stage 1's it's more than the advertised HP. Not sure exactly how much more, but plenty on the seat-o-th-pants meter. I'l eventually have to go to a dyno and see.
In Saskatchewan as long as the front trailer is tandem axle you are good to go. I am hoping for a tuner and some gauges latter this fall. See how the harvest goes first.
You never want to add that kinda stuff up it gets scary in a hurry. For me this year, 4" exhaust and remote start for PSD and rebuilt tranny, fresh motor and new fuel tank for the 78. If you say it fast it is not to bad.
