Hey Nathan????

got any hints for removing the intake on a 351w?? i got all the bolts off, its loosened, but i can't get it lifted off. feels like something is still holding at the back, driver side of the manifold... i've checked a few times now, there's no bolts there that i can see i missed...

Probably it`s just stuck down real tight on the gaskets, you can try gently prying on it in afew places to see if it`ll budge or there`s any movement at all. Sometimes it takes alot of force to break it loose.
Just be double sure you have ''ALL'' the bolts out. There`s been afew times I thought all the bolts were out only to find a hidden one or two.....

You know Sherm thats a sign of extent wear and tear and critical damage may I suggest wither a 300 or 428 swap out?

i'll do some more searching tomorrow... it puzzles me to no end. another thing is 2 lines, metal-like fuel lines, comming from the intake and were connected to the choke side of the old carb... are they exhaust temp lines to do with the choke system??

nice try Ryan... for now the 351 will suffice. i'd love a 300 build, but i'll take what i can get for now...

But really Sherm don't be too afraid of giving it a good yank, thoose gaskets get seated pretty hard. The first thing you'll hurt is yourself not the motor.

It's fairly common for gaskets to "glue" themselves to the part. I've had to on several occasions take a big pry bar to pop an intake loose.

These lines supply hot exhaust air to kick the choke off.

What kind of intake did you get for your truck? We did the same mod on a 1985 351w HO and put it in our 79 F100, as well as a holley 600, headers, stacks, and msd ignition. We bought a Weiand Stealth intake.

Ya it sure did. A lot better throttle response, more torque especially at lower rpms, and it sounded 10 times better too. Of course it was drove like it added 200 more horsepower......
